barre FITNESS

build strength, improve flexibility, explore the fundamentals of ballet technique

 

Led by Royal Academy of Dance teacher and ABT certified barre instructor, Jodie Nunn, barre fitness classes aim to empower participants as they strengthen, tone and mobilise in a series of strength training exercises, underpinned by the principles of classical ballet technique. Following the American Barre Technique (ABT) method, barre fitness classes progress from a mobilising and pulse raising warm up, to strengthening the arms, core, glutes, and legs; interspersed with stretches designed to aid mobility and increase flexibility, ABT workouts build and tone lean muscle. If you enjoy barre fitness, why not try beginners ballet!

Having always enjoyed working out both cardiovascular and weights, I tried barre with Jodie as my friend was going. It was so much harder than I imagined but felt the fitness progression quickly. Jodie was motivational while providing excellent advice and feedback on technique. Would recommend to anyone of any fitness level and sports background.
